There are many ways to learn English today. The most common of these is the Montessori teaching method developed by Maria Montessori. Now I will share with you a brief information about the history and origins of this method. At the age of 26, Montessori, first female Italian doctor, began working as a medical assistant at the University Hospital of San Giovanni Hospital in 1896, and for the first time in her life she met children with mental retardation. Children were kept in empty rooms, had brief contact with them, even they didn’t have toys or books. After a while she began to make toys out of boxes, to build closer relationship with them and she realized that there is need a suitable atmosphere for improvement and understanding of life of children with mental retardation. After that, Maria began developing her educational philosophy and methods by reading books.
Thus, the key idea of the Montessori method of education was founded: children with both normal and mental retardation need a developmental environment in order to understand the world around them. Based on her research and readings, she concludes that mental retardation is more of a pedagogical problem than a medical one, so they should be treated at school, not in a hospital. So, n 1907, she opened her first classroom, the Casa dei Bambini, or Children's House, in a tenement building in Rome.
Let’s give a sample to explain it better. If we stand up when talking to children, we talk to the children by looking down on them. At this time. They look themselves as small. But when you talk to a child on the Montessori, you come down to his height, you sit with him or her and talk. This allows them to feel equal and increases self-confidence. Of course, children don’t like when you say to them “you didn’t do it correct”. Montessori doesn’t allow any teacher and any mother who knows this system to use these words. When they make mistakes, you must keep silent that they understand their mistakes. In this way, children discover and learn lessons from mistakes.
Teachers and mothers play only a guiding role. That is why when they do something right, we don't say "well done", we say "it's good, but you can do better than that". So, this increases their internal discipline. Now imagine that this method is carried to learn English. Is it perfect? Today learning English is dreams of most people. Most parents want their children to be able to express themselves in this language from an early age without being embarrassed or ashamed. With the help of many mentors and tutors, it is possible to learn the language to a certain extent. However, if children have any mental retardation, memory loss, insecurity and shyness, of course, learning a language using the Montessori method can lead to great development.

This method, which facilitates the development and formation of all these skills, is a great opportunity for children who have difficulty speaking English or don’t understand the language easily. High results can be achieved by applying the above factors in the lessons. Freedom is the main principle of this method.
Dr. Maria Montessori “Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.”
Always try not to help your child with homework or give your child the freedom to over tasks and difficulties without interfering. Form free thought for children in their actions, desires, choices. Let them decide from clothes to which games they will play or let them decide on the sequence of homework. This will give children confidence and learn to take responsibility for their decisions.
Of course, this method is carried out in various ways in every student. Taking into consideration that there are the unique learning characteristics of every child, you can help them learn English by songs, finger games, word games, flash cards, jokes, drama, playing certain roles and speaking interesting stories. With a range of books and activities, students will lay the foundations of basic English by building words and simple sentence patterns in English lessons. Based on the principle of “happy children learn”, Montessori is the most important way for students to learn a foreign language with desire and enthusiasm. Within this frame students want to learn English not only as a lesson, but also to have fun. If the goal is to have fun, they learn faster and more enthusiastically.
